Healthy Restaurant in Tirana, Albania - CellFood

You can eat healthy in Albania without breaking the bank.

CellFood in Tirana has great food, excellent prices, and sits just off the main road not far from Skanderbeg Square.

Healthy Food in Albania

My wife and I have lived in Albania for 2.5 years and we are always searching for restaurants that serve healthy food.

Outside of the capital of Tirana there isn’t much variety when it comes to health food restaurants, the demand just isn’t high enough in most places. We used to live in Vlorë, and while there were plenty of fresh markets, there weren’t a lot of restaurants dedicated to preparing those fresh fruits and veggies beyond the usual Greek salad.

Tirana is a bit different. The food scene is bustling and new restaurants are popping up every month. While in the capital it is much easier to find great healthy options.

CellFood Restaurant

Today, after visiting the local dentist (another story for another time), we discovered a new place that serves great food, CellFood Restaurant. It’s an easy place to miss because it’s tucked away on a backstreet across from the Toptani Mall. Unless you have a reason to wander the backstreets of Tirana, you’ll probably never find it.

The restaurant is welcoming and offers indoor (air conditioned) and outdoor seating.

CellFood Menu

CellFood offers a lot of options, from power bowls, to pasta, to salad, and even soup. My wife had the Chicken Bowl and I had the Salmon Teriyaki Bowl.

When our food arrived, my wife was so excited, she quickly reached into her Kavu sling bag and pulled out her phone to snap a photo of our nutrient dense food. My bowl came with Salmon, rice, carrots, spinach, cabbage, mango, walnuts, broccoli, cauliflower, avocado, and sesame seeds. The produce was very fresh and it was delicious overall.

Also note that the restaurant has coffee options. My wife and I enjoyed a cappuccino as we waited for our food. So for those who need their coffee fix, CellFood has you covered.

Prices and Recommendation.

Please take a look at the menu (linked above). I think you’ll find the prices to be very reasonable, especially for the quality. My salmon bowl was 850 LEK ($9 USD) and the chicken bowl was a bit cheaper.

Most of the bowls average between $6.50 and $10.00. The salads and pasta are even cheaper, averaging around $5.00.

We shared 2 bowls (salmon and chicken), 2 cappuccinos, and 2 bottles of water for 2,340 LEK ($25.61).

In my opinion, the prices are excellent for the quality of food. CellFood is easily as good as an equivalent restaurant in the USA or western Europe, but at a fraction of the price.

We will hopefully be returning to CellFood later this week to try some of their other offerings. Although I’ve only visited once, my experience was so positive that I have no problem recommending this place to others.
